***A note on colors: currently many color are shown on Eco Merino DK or Eco Merino Worsted (these yarns look identical when dyed). The following colors are shown on Eco Merino Light: Equinox, Prickly Pear, High Desert Sunset, Dried Roses, Blue Jay, Tempest, Lamb's Ear, Pondside, Bee Balm, Eucalyptus, Sunlight On The Riverbed, Wisdom, Antler, Magnetite, Rock Garden, and August Moon. This is an accurate representation of how these colors will appear on Eco Merino DK (and we continue to work to update these photos as quickly as we can).
Variation is normal in hand dyed yarn and a part of its beauty, and the same color will appear different on different fibers, different monitors, and in different light. When possible we recommend buying yarn in person, but if your local yarn shop doesn't carry our yarn rest assured - we offer free returns within 30 days of delivery, so there's no risk to trying something new!***
Eco Merino DK is a deliciously soft, bouncy, and versatile yarn. The fine merino is ideal for all your next-to-skin items, and the round 4-ply structure makes it perfect for colorwork, texture, and cables. About This Base's Sustainability
This yarn is 100% certified organic merino wool, meaning that it passes a very high bar for its environmental effects. You can read all about the Global Organic Textile Standards here, but in brief this wool has been produced in a sustainable manner, with careful attention paid to the welfare of the sheep and the land in each phase of production. It is important to note that while the fiber content is 100% organic merino and our dyes are also 100% GOTS compliant, our yarn is not considered organic (we are a very small business and currently it is too expensive to pursue organic certification, though this is a goal for the future).
We do adhere to the spirit of the standards and dye all of our yarns in a way that produces minimal waste, pH-neutral and non-toxic wastewater, and minimizes energy and water usage. And like all of our yarns, it is biodegradable and compostable.
